The Oregon Appeals court has reversed a lower court’s dismissal of charges involving 2 teenagers who are suing Governor John Kitzhaber and The State Of Oregon for their supposed inaction on “climate change”. Kelsey Juliana and Olivia Chernaik, brought the suit forward in 2011, but a motion to dismiss was granted in 2012 by Judge Karsten Rassmussen in Lane County. The 2 Eugene teens filed an appeal that was heard in early 2014 and, on June 11th, 2014, the Appeals Court reversed and remanded the lower court’s ruling. Now the suit can move forward. The timeline of legal activity can […]
The government “shut down” means that microbreweries can’t introduce new beer, because the agency that approves new beer labels is closed. Since when do we need permission from the state to put a new label on a beer bottle? They call this the land of the free? If the government is shut down, who will punish the microbreweries for selling anyway? I’m not a beer drinker, but if any locally owned breweries start selling new beer without government approval, I will go out of my way to buy some of it, and promote it to my friends who do drink […]
Everyone knows the classic image of Uncle Sam. On Tuesday, July 9th, a new, 30-foot-tall version of Uncle Sam appeared at Portland’s Jeld Wen field. In honor of Team USA’s Gold Cup soccer match against Belize, Uncle Sam is shown wearing not a stars hat, but a Cascadia hat. Cascadia is a fantasy “nation” movement that is promoted throughout the northwest. Cascadians seek to arrange for Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia to secede and form a new nation that is based on environmentalism and socialism. This is hardly the first time elements of the Cascadia movement have appeared at […]
Read the story of Reverend Matthew Cummings, the former Bill Ayers and Diana Oughton student, who, thanks to those indoctrination classes, grew up to be a freedom loving Conservative! Click here to download his 14 page memoir. Reverend Cummings is presenting the Northwest Convergence Project Conference this August, 2013, in Portland, Oregon. The goal of the event is to empower individuals to get out of the system of welfare and dependence and to become their own person. Visit www.nwconvergenceproject.com for more info.
Portland State University President Wim Wiewel has issued an email response to the goings on around his campus, where, last week, members of the Muslim Student Association (MSA), Students United For Palestinian Equal Rights (SUPER), and socialist groups crashed the College Republican’s showing of the film “Obsession”. The MSA, SUPER, and socialists ran the College Republicans out of the room to shouts of “SHAME” and “RACIST”, and later a videographer was ejected for filming in the previously declared “public space” during the hijacked portion of the event, where everyone sat around discussing their feelings. The PSU administration has been flooded […]
The ever accepting, open minded socialists and Islamists at Portland State University have taken their bullying tactics to a new level. (Remember last year’s uber fail of a “protest” at Erick Stakelbeck’s presentation?) The College Republicans hosted a showing of the film “Obsession”, which focuses on radical Islam’s obsession with western civilization. Several people from PSU’s muslim and socialist groups, such as Students United For Palestinian Equal Rights (SUPER) and the International Socialist Organization (ISO), decided they would crash the event. And crash it they did. Before the event even started, they began to shout and tried to take over. […]
Oregon’s premier gun control advocacy group, Ceasefire Oregon, held one of their semi annual gun turn ins on May 11th, 2013. This is one of those events where folks show up, hand over a gun, and get a gift certificate to Fred Meyer, no questions asked. I became intrigued by the nature of this event as I recalled state Senator Ginny Burdick, the legislature’s leading voice on gun control, talking about the “gun show loophole” and what qualifies an event as a “gun show”. Upon investigating the exact legalities of the nature of “gun shows”, I stumbled on some interesting […]
There seems to be little outrage over this. Was I the only one who heard Harry Reid right the other day? After the cloture vote on S.649, the bill that would force background checks for private firearms sales, he went on to talk about amendments that would be offered, and the first 3 he mentioned were the well publicized Toomey-Machin amendment, followed immediately by saying “We’re gunna have to have a vote on assault weapons”, and shortly afterword “We’re also gunna have to have a vote on the size of clips or magazines”. I thought all the proponents of this […]
Manuel Martinez, an immigrant who escaped communist Cuba, gives an excellent testimony at the Oregon Senate judiciary committee hearing on several anti gun bills that are making their way through the state legislature. He describes the slippery slope that he experienced as his rights were slowly stripped as Cuba turned into a communist dictatorship, and how he sees America following the same path.
